Unichanger Project (“Development of universal changeover installation and compatibilization and migration in the Spanish railway network”) studies the viability of a network which permits the coexistence of different track gauges, different electrification voltages, etc. The aim is to optimize the use of the railway and to favour modal transfer.

The Unichanger Project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Public Works within the framework of the National Public-Private Cooperation Programme, Sub-programme of Projects relating to Transport and Infrastructures within the Instrument-Based Course of Action for Organisation and Internationalization of the System, part of the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation, 2008-2011. Project number P-45/08.
